Securities:

Nothing contained on this site should be used or construed as an offer to sell, a solicitation of an offer to buy, or a recommendation for any security. Nor is it intended as investment, tax, financial or legal advice.

Risk:

Investing involves risk. Nothing is 100% guaranteed. Even the most conservative investments include some risks. Remember, the two most dangerous emotions are greed and fear.

Therefore, do not lose sight of your long-term objectives and plans. Remember the Proverbs: "Wealth hastily gotten will soon dwindle" and "He who gathers little by little will prosper."

The following is provided to help you identify some the kinds of risks that can affect your investments. Investment in stocks, bonds and other securities entails risks that may include one or more of the following:

· Market Risk - values fluctuate with and are affected by the market.
· Investment Risk - principal may be at risk regardless of market conditions
· Liquidity Risk - liquidation may not be possible when desired or could result in loss &/or penalty.
· Opportunity Cost - Use of your capital in an investment precludes other uses of the same capital.
· Inflation/Deflation Risk - Erodes purchase power &/or value of assets.
· Rate Risk - Locking in rates of investment interest can be adverse if rates rise prior to maturity.
· Currency & Political Risk -- Especially in International markets, currency values change and political occurrences can dramatically affect investments.

In general, the higher the return desired, the more risk that must be assumed.

Hi Dave,

Six things need to be done by the weekend.  I don't think they should require a lot of time.  I noticed the following:

1.  Under STAAR Solutions the link to the Advisory Agreement needs the destination document to be the most recent, which is attached.  (Note links on How We Work With You block on Home page will need to be updated, too)   If you are able to convert to pdf doc, that would be better.  I found so e typos so I revised the Word docs, but cant do pdfs on my home computer.  If you can't I can do tomorrow and send to you.

(Figures derived from statistical information found in the Ibbotson Associates 2015 yearbook for periods ending 12/31/2014.)  *Data from 1970. In US Dollars. **Data from 1972.  This data series has been discontinued, but the general risk/reward parameters are useful. *** Period 1928-32, since the 1930’s worst 5 year periods for Large stocks is -2.4% and small stocks -12.3%.  1 year extremes for those are also from the 1930’s.  The best long term bond performance was in 1982.  The possibility of it happening now with rates so low is virtually zero.  In fact all bond returns are likely to be less than average gig forward.

** NOTE: The past three decades saw interest rates come down from historical highs to historical lows and therefore bonds experienced some of their best total returns including interest and price gains.   One could reasonably argue that risk in bonds is now much higher than average and repeating total returns similar to the past ten or twenty years would be highly improbable if not impossible.
